How did you get into fitness?
I come from a family of athletes. My mom was a runner, my dad a triathlete and I was a dancer, cheerleader and swimmer in High School. In college I took my first aerobics class and loved it. I immediately got certified and I have been coaching ever since.
What do you like to do on the weekends?
Spend time with husband, my son and our dog, Buster. Our family loves the arts. We especially enjoy live music.
What inspires you?
I love to help people reach their fitness goals and be the best version of themselves. We are a species that was meant to move. I firmly believe we must work our mind and body daily to achieve overall balance.
What’s your pre-workout routine or ritual?
I typically coach in the evenings after work. When I get home, I make my family dinner, take a quick power nap and eat some protein. I also walk my dog Buster and he helps me review my playlist. If he likes it, he barks 2x (Woof! Woof!) and we go with it.
What has motivated you to become a trainer?
Working in the medical field I encounter many people who are not healthy. My goal is to help people discover how important exercise is for their cardiovascular health and overall wellness. It is extremely satisfying to convince people to train with you, people who would ordinarily never workout. I have watched people transform their lives with exercise.
How do you motivate others?
Every client is different. As a coach it is important that I discover what motivates my clients and what keeps them engaged. I try very hard to recognize my clients’ hard work in class so that they know, that I know, they are doing a great job. Heck, sometimes just showing up to class when you have had a rough day is an achievement. Additionally, as a coach I believe it is vital to create a community for your clients. I want them to connect with others that have similar fitness goals and have a support system to keep them accountable and engaged.

What are you most proud of?
My son, He was born with a congenital heart defect and has had many open-heart surgeries. But despite his condition he wanted to play soccer and workout. With the clearance of his cardiologist he has been able to exercise which has made his recovery after his surgeries easier. My son is very brave, he has had to face adversity at such a young age, but he pushes through his obstacles and stays positive. He grounds me and I am proud to be his mom!
